Gale Databases for Middle School and High School - InfoTrac Junior Edition, InfoTrac Student Edition and Discovering Collection  

  • Duration: Half day
  • Session times: 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. (deliverable hours = 1.5)

InfoTrac Junior Edition - With over 330 titles, cross searchable with E-Books, the InfoTrac Junior Edition periodical database is designed for students in junior high and middle school with access to a variety of indexed and full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

InfoTrac Student Edition - With over 1100 titles, cross searchable with E-Books, the InfoTrac Student Edition periodical database is designed for high-school students with access to a variety of indexed and full-text magazines, newspapers, podcasts, and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

Discovering Collection - Thousands of overview essays, critical analyses, biographies, primary sources, creative works and multimedia elements comprise the Discovering Collection comprehensive online reference resource. The database has an intuitive interface and easy-to-navigate functionality that make it effortless for students to research papers and class assignments in five core subject areas: history, literature, biography, science and social studies.

The instructor will demonstrate the resources. At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Access the resources
  • Display familiarity with the toolbars of each resource
  • Describe effective searching through general and refined search techniques
  • Print, e-mail and save search results
  • List methods of implementing online resources into current programs

This training will be offered online in one 1 1/2 hour sessions.
