Online Class Note

The online version of this class will be offered in two 1 1/2 hour sessions offered on two different days using Adobe Connect. Please note dates and times on the course schedule.

Overview

This course is designed for the beginning "Internet Filtering Administrator" to give an overview of how Internet filtering with Netsweeper works. It is both lecture and lab oriented. Emphasis will be on use of the Netsweeper webadmin interface to implement the MOREnet hosted solution. Hands-on exercises will include practice working with the Netsweeper webadmin interface.

Please Note: If you want to use a locally hosted Internet content filtering solution or currently use SmartFilter, you will want to attend the class titled "Member Hosted Content Filtering with Netsweeper".

Objectives

Given information on the Netsweeper Internet filtering service, the participant should by the end of the class have a working knowledge of, or be able to

• Define Internet Filtering
• Define filter categories
• Define how Netsweeper harvests suspect URLs
• Install the client filter
• Create and modify filters to customize filtering for users
• Create your own block and exception categories to further customize filtering for users
• Assign filters to computers on a network using their IP addresses
• Specify web sites, keywords, and file types to block
• Specify web sites, keywords, and file types to allow
• Specify users who can override filtering
• Setup a redirect page you want to display when users try to access blocked Web content
