Windows 2008 Server Administration, Introduction
- Duration: 3.0 days
- Session times:
First day: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Other days: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (deliverable hours = 21.0)
Instructional Goal
Designed to build a foundation in basic server administration, this class introduces students to many of Windows Server 2008 features. The class includes extensive exercises which reinforce Microsoft Windows Server 2008 network administration skills as they are learned.
Objectives include:
At the end of this three day Instructor-led class, students
will be able to:
- Identify the key features of each Windows Server 2008 edition
- Use Server Manager and ServerManagerCmd.exe to manage a server
- Install and remove server roles
- Explore Active Directory basic concepts
- Install and configure Active Directory
- Create and manage user accounts
- Configure and use security groups
- Describe and implement new Active Directory features
- Set up security for folders and files
- Configure shared folders and shared folder security
- Use and configure Event Viewer
- Discuss the importance of server monitoring
- Use Task Manager for server monitoring
- Use Reliability Monitor
- Define the security enhancements included in Windows Server 2008
- Explore how Windows Server 2008 uses group policies
- Define and configure security policies
