Classes are completed in one day unless a different duration is specified.

General

Networking Basics, Level 2  

  • Duration: 1 day
  • Session times: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (deliverable hours = 6.0)

This one day course is intended to give the student a more thorough understanding of networking components functions, switch management, IP addressing, subnetting and troubleshooting TCP/IP connections. Participants will be involved in numerous practical exercises including configuring TCP/IP settings and subnetting.

Objectives

Given the course materials, instructions and exercises, participants will demonstrate their knowledge and ability to:

  • Explain the functions of a router and switch
  • Define and differentiate between the different classes of networks
  • Subnet a simple class C network
  • Define and differentiate between static and dynamic IP addressing
  • Successfully use TCP/IP troubleshooting techniques
  • Successfully use network troubleshooting tools
  • Explain and differentiate between IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes

Prerequisites: Networking Basics, Level 1 or equivalent knowledge
