Windows 2003 Group Policy  

  • Duration: 1 day
  • Session times: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (deliverable hours = 7.0)

Instructional Goal

This course is designed to show students how to manage a Windows Active Directory domain using Group Policy. The course will use the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) to teach students to complete specific tasks. With this knowledge students will be able to implement necessary policies within their Windows Active Directory domains to increase efficiency and productivity for system administrators. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Implement Group Policy best practices
  • Create a Group Policy Object (GPO)
  • Delete a GPO
  • Set delegation rights on a GPO
  • Create Reports
  • Backup and Restore Group Policy Objects
  • Redirect User folders
  • Deploy Software via Group Policy
  • Restrict the use of software via Group Policy
  • Troubleshoot Group Policy issues

In addition, participants will be given resources such as tools, sample scripts and utilities, as well as tips to provide additional knowledge to perform specific tasks within Group Policy.

Prerequisite

Introduction to Windows 2003 Server Administration or equivalent experience.
