Internet Safety Night
- Duration: Half day
- Session times: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (deliverable hours = 2.0)
It's 9 p.m. Your kids are online. Do you know who they're talking to?
MOREnet will host an Internet Safety Night on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at 7 p.m. Internet safety for children is a growing concern for parents, educators, librarians, and the community. What can you do to ensure you are prepared? Do you have unanswered questions? MOREnet has invited a variety of experts to speak on this very important subject.
You are invited to attend in person or online. The first portion of the evening will feature two guest speakers, Chris Pickering and Joe Laramie, each will give a presentation on children and Internet safety. A brief question and answer session will follow their presentation. The second portion of the evening will have a local panel discussion. In Columbia, we will host a four member panel comprised of our two guest speakers who will be joined by two local law enforcement officers. In the event you can not create your own local panel, we invite you to join our panel discussion. The entire event will be streamed live.
Speakers include:
- Chris Pickering, Chief Investigator Public Safety in the Missouri Attorney General's Office
- Sgt. Joe Laramie, Glendale Police Department and Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force
- Detective Andy Anderson, Boone County Sherriff
- Office J. Haden Pitman, City of Columbia Police Department
