General

Videoconferencing With Polycom VSX7000  

  • Duration: 1 day
  • Session times: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (deliverable hours = 7.0)

Designed for the beginning videoconferencing technician, this class is both lecture and lab oriented. Time will be allotted for hands-on exercises, which will include physically setting up the hardware (Polycom unit) and configuring the software to successfully host or participate in a videoconferencing session.

Objectives

Given the appropriate tools, safety precautions, computers and hardware, and hands-on exercises, by the conclusion of class the participant should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Identify the types of and differences in videoconferences
  • Successfully install and configure the Polycom equipment
  • Organize and set up a videoconferencing call
  • Initiate and end a videoconferencing call
  • Successfully navigate the remote and its functions
  • Access the Polycom remotely through the Web interface
  • Successfully update the Polycom firmware
  • Utilize the Polycom's basic utilities to troubleshoot connection problems
  • Utilize Best Practices for participating in a videoconference
