Instructional Goal
This course is designed to prepare students for the real-world challenges of a Microsoft networking professional. It is designed for students interested in the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 networking technology. The text includes extensive Hands-on projects, exercises, and review questions in each chapter, which reinforce Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network administration skills as they are learned.
Objectives include:
At the end of this five day Instructor-led class, students
will be able to:
- List the tasks of a Windows 2003 Server Network Administrator
- Review general troubleshooting techniques
- Access and use the Windows 2003 Server Administration Tools
- Explain the concept of Active Directory
- Plan an OS install insuring Windows 2003 Server hardware and software compatibility
- Use Windows 2003 Server qualifier tools to assess hardware needs
- Install and configure hardware devices and drivers
- Install and manage 2003 Server updates using service packs and hotfixes
- Create and modify Active Directory objects: OU's, users, computer and groups.
- Identify Active Directory group types and scopes
- Administer Active Directory object permissions
- Manage Active Directory replication
- Create and manage Group Policy objects to control desktop settings
- Manage and troubleshoot Group Policy inheritance
- Create and manage shared folders
- Manage shared folder permissions
- Configure Encryption File System
- Monitor access to shared folders
- Configure and manage DFS
- Create and modify shared printer resources
- Set up and manage published resources in Active Directory
- Audit access to shared resources
- Manage data storage
