General

• Duration: 1 day
• Session times: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (deliverable hours = 6.0)

Internet Security is one of the hottest topics of the year, and MOREnet has created a Security Contact position for each customer organization. Learn what you can and should do when your network is attacked or is the source of an acceptable use problem. Learn the basics of security event response, as well as what MOREnet can do to help. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to designated customer Security Contacts.

Objectives

Given information regarding MOREnet, staff and departments, website demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, by the conclusion of the class participants should be able to: 

• Recognize and discuss security and acceptable use policy issues
• Recognize security and acceptable use events when they happen
• Perform basic network security queries
• Assess severity of security events
• Report security and acceptable use events to MOREnet
• Return to their organization with a ?game plan? for creating a local event response capability
