General

NetSmartz  

  • Duration: 1 day
  • Session times: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (deliverable hours = 4.0)

The NetSmartz Workshop, a program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, is an interactive, educational resource for youth (ages 5 to 17), parents, guardians, educators and law enforcement. The program uses age-appropriate, 3-D activities to teach young people how to stay safer on the Internet.

Objective

Given instructions, resources, access to the NetSmartz website (http://www.netsmartz.org/) and the Missouri NetSmartz resources (http://www.netsmartz.org/education/mo/), participants will demonstrate their ability to implement the NetSmartz resources into a library or school by answering the following questions:

  • Why? – What is the need for an Internet safety program?
  • What? - NetSmartz provides Internet safety curriculum for ages 5-17.
  • Who? – National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
  • Where? – Location of the NetSmartz materials
  • How? – Ideas for implementing NetSmartz in your organization
