General

Basic Troubleshooting Techniques  

  • Duration: 1 day
  • Session times: 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (deliverable hours = 4.5)

This course is designed to introduce beginning and intermediate computer users to the basics of computer troubleshooting. It is both lecture and lab oriented. Students will be instructed in basic techniques, introduced to terms and terminologies and given common problems with associated solutions.

Objectives

Given in-depth information on troubleshooting guidelines, the participant should by the end of the class have a working knowledge of, or be able to

  • Identify basic computer components as related to troubleshooting
  • Define the basic steps in troubleshooting a computer or basic network problem
  • Set up a PC
  • Troubleshoot hardware-related problems successfully.
  • Troubleshoot software-related problems successfully.
  • Identify various tools used for troubleshooting hardware- and software-related problems
